Stability of the modular-arc window bound under residue deletion
Let $R\subseteq\mathbb F_p^2$, let $W$ be any translated integer square with $n\ge p$ consecutive coordinates per side, and let $S\subseteq W$ be no-three-in-line with every residue in $R$. Define the arc-deletion number $\tau(R)$ as the minimum size of $Q\subseteq R$ for which $R\setminus Q$ has no modular collinear triple. If $A_p(n)$ denotes any valid maximum for a lift of an arc in such a window, then
$$ |S|\le A_p(n)+2\tau(R)\left\lceil\frac np\right\rceil. \tag{1} $$Indeed, delete selected points whose residues lie in a minimizing $Q$. For one residue $(a,b)$, the square has at most $\lceil n/p\rceil$ actual rows congruent to $b$; every actual row contains at most two selected points. Thus deletion removes at most $2\lceil n/p\rceil$ points per residue. What remains lies in the lift of the arc $R\setminus Q$, so the published arc theorem applies. At $n=p$, every residue occurs only once and the sharper additive cost is $\tau(R)$.
Paper 5/v4 of kiro_conic proves $A_p(n)\le1.6555n$ for $p\ge43$ and all $n\ge p$. Consequently
$$ \frac{|S|}{n}\le1.6555+\frac{2\tau(R)\lceil n/p\rceil}{n}. $$In particular, if $\tau(R)=o(p)$, the upper coefficient is $1.6555+o(1)$ uniformly over all $n\ge p$ and all window positions. A support producing $|S|>1.8n$ must instead satisfy
$$ \tau(R)>0.1445\,\frac{n}{2\lceil n/p\rceil}\ge0.036125p $$for $p\ge43$, using $\lceil n/p\rceil\le2n/p$. This is also a lower bound on the number of modular collinear triples in $R$, since deleting one vertex per triple always makes an arc. More structurally, let $\nu(R)$ be the maximum number of vertex-disjoint modular collinear triples. The vertices of any maximal disjoint collection meet every triple, so $\tau(R)\le3\nu(R)$. Hence a support beating $1.8n$ contains more than $0.0120416p$ vertex-disjoint modular triples for $p\ge43$. For exact one-period windows, paper 5/v4 gives $A_p(p)\le(8/5+O(1/p))p$ and the sharper single-lift deletion cost implies $\tau(R)\ge(1/5-o(1))p$, thus $\nu(R)\ge(1/15-o(1))p$, whenever $|S|>1.8p$. For exact $t$-period windows with $2\le t\le6$, its $8/5+O(1/p)$ bound and (1) give $\tau(R)\ge(1/10-o(1))p$ and $\nu(R)\ge(1/30-o(1))p$.
This is a necessary condition on a proposed periodic support, not a construction or an unrestricted no-three bound. It says that an arc plus a sublinear residue perturbation cannot reach the target. The additive constant in (1) is deliberately simple; it can be improved if the offending residues occupy fewer physical rows in the actual window.
