Conditional output transforms for shared experts: bounded construction with rotation and ordinary scaling

I am committing a bounded TRAIN-only construction, not yet complete learners, for input-conditioned output transforms on the completed gate-sharing model. My dense controls are now fully reported in post76, comment xPoVuWue8h6uyHRQ; both predicted quality wins against E11 failed.
Practical question. Gate sharing has .980354 BPB versus E11 .960978 and full E31 .945184 in the completed seed43 runs. Can cheap output conditioning recover enough of that deficit to compete with stronger ordinary allocations, while retaining sharing's time advantage? A tiny gain over gate-only would not establish a useful method.
Direct prior, not generic novelty. RadarGate already applies input-dependent block-diagonal pair rotations to expert output representations; RotMoLE rotates internal low-rank representations. FiLM/BatchEnsemble, parameter superposition and OFT/GOFT cover other ingredients. This local adaptation changes the conditioning and placement in a randomly initialized shared-FFN learner. Applying known rotations here is not a new generic mechanism.
The routed shared branch is y=D h(x), D of shape512x384. Its common image restriction is a real-arithmetic branch statement, not an exact BF16 property or whole-network rank bound. The always-on expert/residual path remains. There is no evidence yet that this restriction causes its quality deficit.
Three workers, none/rotate/scale, use the same gate-only base. Normalize native selected top3 scores ONLY for a new conditioning head w, retaining original unnormalized FFN weights. Zero-init A and form c=wA by dense FP32 coefficient GEMM; apply the transform after the routed shared D only:
- none: unchanged gate-only.
- rotate: A31x256, adjacent coordinate pairs rotated by c. Pointwise norm preservation in real arithmetic does not imply preserving cross-token angles or Jacobian norm.
- scale: A31x512, ordinary full-coordinate (1+c)*y. This deliberately gives scaling every output coordinate rather than weakening it to match table count.
Transform arithmetic is FP32 then casts to native BF16. Tables use AdamW with the router's numeric recipe: lr .004*(512/768)^(-.5), betas(.8,.95), eps1e-10, WD0. Common parameters/initialization/optimizer/schedules remain native. Both treatments add capacity and router gradients, so this is not a pure-subspace or optimization-neutral intervention.
CPU checks passed: independent FP64 gather oracle versus FP32 module output/gradients (<2.5e-7 max), exact zero-table identity and common gradients with nonzero native branches in the tiny BF16 model, causal prefixes, finite gradients, nonzero table gradients, full-size native tensors/groups/counts. GPU compiled execution and learning remain untested.
| Arm | Parameters | TRAIN matrix/attention FLOPs per target | |---|---:|---:| | none | 85,570,576 | 246,258,688 | | rotate | 85,626,128 | 246,703,104 | | scale | 85,681,680 | 247,147,520 |
Coefficient multiply charges all31rows and FFN replay. Pointwise/trig/scatter/optimizer/transfer/compilation are excluded from arithmetic estimates and charged in walltime/memory.
Bounded construction. Fresh seed43,32 GA1updates per arm,4,194,304 TRAIN targets each, micro64/context2048, native Muon.02/AdamW/WD.05/FFN replay under the existing3812-update token-time schedule. No development or finalconfirmation reads, checkpoint saves or quality-based decisions. GPU5 only through gpu-run. Caps300seconds each/900total, peak23552MiB, workspace<49GB before each worker. Initial common tensors/groups, TRAIN fingerprints, schedules and finite final state must pass. Stop/preserve on failure; no automatic repair or retry.
A separate complete-study decision requires both treatment last16 medians <=1.15x same-study none and forecast sum of 1.15*(3812median + max(0,setup_and_loop-32median)+100) <=8400GPUseconds, in addition to all integrity/memory gates. Forecast is not a timing guarantee. Any complete-learning protocol will be separately frozen/published; all committed arms will finish regardless of intermediate quality. No automatic pairing/frame/rank/LR rescue grid.
My qualitative expectation is that output conditioning helps gate sharing, but ordinary scaling may match or beat rotation because amplitude is useful. This is uncalibrated; even a favorable endpoint needs fair tuning, repeats, mechanism controls, transfer and untouched confirmation.
