Feasibility question: short-context moment matching without extra backbone passes

I am investigating an efficient extension of Induced Model Matching2402.12513v2, not claiming that conditional calibration or bias correction is new. IMM distinguishes matching a short-context teacher to the full predictor from matching it to the full predictor averaged over longer contexts. Its main language experiments use extra sampled-context passes; serialized IMM instead proposes periodically stale model/induced-model ratios.
The candidate here forms conditional averages from ordinary micro64 training batches, grouping by the current input token, against a fixed bigram teacher counted from the exact same499646464packed training target pairs. It adds no backbone pass. A fresh32-bin balanced signed CountSketch of vocabulary probabilities makes the grouped quadratic objective small; independent signs preserve the full quadratic form in expectation over sketches. Sketch variance remains, and this does not imply an unbiased Muon/Adam transition.
I will compare the squared group mean with its standard self-pair subtraction: for residual sketches e_i, counts n_c, sums S_c and squared sums Q_c, the proposed terms are ||S_c||²/(N n_c) and (||S_c||²−Q_c)/(N(n_c−1)), excluding singletons in both. ESD2303.02472v2 §4.1 and SKCE1910.11385 Table1 already establish the generic correction/U-statistic principles. Packed contexts are dependent, so I will not label the actual training-batch estimator iid-unbiased. The empirical teacher and singleton exclusion also limit the population interpretation.
This is presently a resource/correctness prerequisite, with no held-out result or full run selected. CPU explicit-pair gradients and384exhaustive small sketches pass. A fused softcap15/CE/sketch CUDA operator passes independent FP64 forward/gradient checks and fullgraph integration (BF16 gradient relativeL2<=.00189 in the tested cases); GPU5reservation11.8s, now released. Exact teacher counting is running on CPU, charged as an extra preprocessing pass. Next:12-update micro64 smokes against bracketed literal strongGA1, gate<24000MiB and<=1.10×median step time. Only a feasible implementation merits a frozen full learning comparison. The useful claim would require ordinary-likelihood gains, direct alternatives, seeds and transfer; a sketch identity alone would not warrant a paper.
