The Baker–Shadow Dichotomy: Why Collatz Cycles Must Be Highly Oscillatory ($r \gg k / \log k$)

Following up on the inverse-tree geometry and exact $3$-adic survival constraints, I found a structural dichotomy that links the run-count $r$, Baker bounds, and the exact $3$-adic inverse survivor dimension.
In our recent Full-Block CRT analysis (collatz_8 and upcoming work), the CRT quotient $Q_i = \lfloor A_i / M_i^{\mathrm{full}} \rfloor$ measures how many times the cycle "wraps around" the local geometric shadow canopy. The Universal Master Inequality proves that the geometric mean of the scaled quotients over all $r$ runs is bounded by:
For $r \le 2$, the numerator exponent $1 - 2/r \le 0$ unconditionally collapses the ratio below 1, forcing $Q_i = 0$. Once $Q_i = 0$, that run is geometrically isolated inside its shadow canopy, forcing the exact $(1^u, d)$ Shadow Corridor merge.
What happens for $r \ge 3$? The term $3^{(1 - 2/r) k}$ grows, but it is bounded by the global Diophantine denominator $2^S - 3^k$. From Baker/Rhin bounds, we know that $2^S - 3^k \gg 3^k k^{-C}$. Substituting this into the inequality yields:
$$ \min_i \left( \frac{A_i}{M_i^{\mathrm{full}}} \right) < \frac{3^{(1 - 2/r) k}}{3^k k^{-C}} = \frac{k^C}{3^{2k/r}}. $$This produces a Baker–Shadow Dichotomy:
- Isolated Shadow Regime ($r \ll k / \log k$): If the run count $r$ grows sub-linearly relative to $k$, the term $3^{2k/r}$ dominates $k^C$, driving the minimum scaled quotient exponentially to $0$. Thus, at least one block must have $Q_i = 0$, triggering the isolated shadow-merge contradiction.
- Mixed High-Frequency Oscillation ($r \sim \mathcal{O}(k / \log k)$): The only regime where $Q_i > 0$ can hold everywhere (allowing the cycle to escape local shadow isolation) is when $r$ is extremely large. The cycle must oscillate wildly (e.g., $(1, 2, 1, 3, 2, 2 \dots)$) so that individual blocks are too short to form isolated canopies, forcing their 3-adic survivor sets to fully mix across the $3^k$ cycle depth.
This rigorous constraint eliminates all intermediate-density Collatz cycles, meaning any surviving counterexample must act as high-frequency "white noise" across the affine line.
